About Us

Coming from a high school teaching background several years ago, Chris launched her career in real estate with great anticipation. With the support of husband David, retired from 25 years in the military and already a licensed realtor, she initially worked from her waterfront home on Kashwakamak Lake. After establishing a Royal LePage satellite office at NorthPoint Square Mall in June 2005, followed by the purchase of office space in Northbrook (next to the LCBO), Chris became much more accessible to the public.  Accessibility and some creative marketing have contributed to her growing share of the Land O' Lakes real estate market.

After 32 years of teaching High School, Chris has now had a taste of being her own boss and she wouldn't have it any other way. With daughter Chantel, her Licensed Assistant, and husband David, her official Director of Marketing, she is experiencing the highs and lows of anyone who is in business. However, she's found that if you offer genuine service to clients and help them to reach their specific goals, everyone wins.

Running a business also affords Chris the opportunity and responsibility to give back to the community. Volunteering her time and energy to the Land o' Lakes Tourist Association's Board of Directors has been rewarding. Whenever she displays listings at Toronto or Ottawa cottage shows, she promotes the region as a tourist destination by handing out signature maps and guides. Seminar presentations at these shows allow her to showcase the natural beauty of the region. When the Friends of Bon Echo Park need volunteer workers for their annual art show, Chris and David are there to help. When a lake association needs a ticket seller, Silent Auction host or someone to organize a cottage road clean-up, Chris & David take their turn. With David & Chantel's assistance, Chris is looking forward to developing new projects designed to bring new visitors, & yes, residents, to this Land o' Lakes community.

Giving back is not new to Chris & David. As a teacher, Chris never believed that school ended at 4 o'clock. She gladly volunteered many extra hours every week to ensure extra curricular activities were promoted while juggling her family responsibilities; she is a true multi-tasker. As a military engineer and officer, David served with the UN and NATO in places such as Israel, Syria, Yugoslavia (twice), Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq (twice) and most recently Afghanistan (twice). For Chris and David, it is not a new concept to help friends and strangers whenever and wherever help is needed. They have had many years experience in creative problem-solving in many arenas.

Entrepreneurs in today's workplace must create an appropriate niche for their business and Chris is revelling in the process. The prognosis is good and the Winneys are determined to do their part to ensure that the Land O' Lakes area thrives.
